SF WOMEN’S BASKETBALL

Ocala, FL – The Santa Fe Saints held a 9-0 lead four minutes into their first round FCSAA State Tournament game against #3 St. Petersburg College, but saw that lead quickly evaporate as the Titans pulled away in the second half for a 75-55 victory.  SPC will now face #2 Northwest Florida State College in the semifinals tomorrow night at 6:00 PM.

Jocelyn Mousty got the Saints off to a hot start, scoring 11 points in the first half.  Stephanie Ball added nine first half points, but the quick start by SF was short lived as the Titans turned up the defensive pressure, forcing 13 turnovers over the first 20 minutes to take a 41-31 lead into the locker room.

Tori Baggett started the second half with a three pointer for Santa Fe to cut the margin to seven, but it was all SPC the rest of the way as the Titans pushed the pace and scored a majority of their points on fast break run outs.

The win is the fourteenth in a row for St. Pete College with their last loss coming January 11.

Ball led Santa Fe with 17 points, Mousty finished with 11, and Baggett had 11.

Santa Fe ends their season with a 10-19 record.
