Gainesville, FL – Under Armour All-American and top 50 ranked Illinois prep player Kaylin Powell (photo attached) has inked a scholarship with Santa Fe College for the 2014 season. Powell comes to Santa Fe from Brooks College Prep High School in Chicago where she led the Eagles to the 2013 Chicago City Championship, and Regional Championship.
Powell was named to the Chicago City Championship all-tournament team three times, and last year was named the Defensive Player of the Year. A middle blocker, she finished her senior year with 119 kills, 73 total blocks, and a .368 hitting percentage.
Santa Fe Head Coach Nick Cheronis offered high praise for the 6’3” Powell.
“I can’t wait to start coaching Kaylin,” said Cheronis. “She is extremely athletic and a proto type middle blocker. Her potential is unlimited. I have been very fortunate in my career to have coached some of the top athletes in our sport, and Kaylin ranks right up there with some of the best that I have ever seen.”
