Gainesville, FL – The Santa Fe Saints took game one of a double header against Mid-Florida Conference foe Florida State College – Jacksonville but dropped the second game to the Blue Wave, who were in need of a conference win.
Santa Fe (24-17, 12-4 MFC) put four runs on the board in the second inning of game one thanks to a RBI single from Celeste Bradshaw, a RBI ground out from Sid Masso, and three FSC-J errors.
The Blue Wave (17-22, 4-10 MFC) scored one in the fourth inning, ending the Saints scoreless inning streak at 37 consecutive without allowing a run, a stretch of five plus games.
Maddy Peres tossed all seven innings to earn the win, striking out seven in the process.
In game two, FSC-J scored three runs in the third thanks to two SF errors. Santa Fe responded with a run in the fourth and another in the sixth, but couldn’t fully close the gap.
The Saints will take a few days off before returning to action at home against the State College of Florida on Saturday, March 5 at 1:00 PM.
