SF Automotive and HVAC win Skills USA Regional Competition

On Friday, Feb. 20, Santa Fe College’s Automotive and HVAC departments won the Skills USA Regional Competition. Skills USA has 350,000 students across the nation in over 130 careers.

The Automotive department, with Advisor Chester Cowart, took first and second places for Post-Secondary Automotive Service Technology. The HVAC department, with Advisor Art Grant, took first and third places for Post-Secondary HVAC.

Several Students placed in the top as well. Darin Ball took first place for Automotive Service Technology and Thomas Childs took second place. Wesley Lewis took first place for HVAC and Austin Mayer took third place.

The next step will be to attend Skills USA State Competition April 26-29, to represent Santa Fe College against all other institutions in Florida participating in Skills USA. Should the students win State then they will progress to Skills USA National Competition in July in Louisville, Kentucky.
