In this segment of the “Bartram’s in Florida” series, we will visit the site of the most dramatic event in William Bartram’s 1774 exploration. Fortunately, his “Battle Lagoon” no longer has the incredible numbers of gators he saw (and had to fend off). However, nature still prevails in this remote section of the St. Johns River. Bartram’s nearby campsite looks amazingly similar to the way he described it. Join guide & local author on a tour of the Battle Lagoon.
