January 1, 2017 – When Dr. Marc Cauchon arrived in Gainesville in 1981 too late to enroll at UF, he decided to take classes at Santa Fe College so as not to waste a term, and ended up staying to earn his A.A.

“I was fully expecting to transfer to UF after my first semester, but found that SF offered me the same college courses as UF, without the high cost and large class sizes,” Marc said. “It was one of the best educational choices I ever made!”

Dr. Cauchon earned his A.A. at SF before transferring to the University of West Florida in Pensacola in 1984 where he earned a Bachelor of Science in Pre-Professional Biology. From there, he went on to graduate from the University of Florida College of Dentistry.

“Santa Fe College gave me an excellent A.A. experience and prepared me very well for my upper-division education,” Marc said. “I do not believe that I would have had such academic if I had not used SF as a stepping stone. My experience here was exceptional!”

Dr. Cauchon says he would strongly encourage today’s students entering college to take a serious look at SF and what we have to offer.

“Smaller class sizes, lower tuition, greater interaction with faculty—all of these things are important when trying to get through college,” he added.
