April 5, 2017

Brain Bowl is an academic quiz tournament in which college teams compete against each other. In February, the Santa Fe College Brain Bowl team qualified for the state championships by becoming the runners-up at the regional championships.  From March 30 through April 1, the team consisting of Noah Bush (team captain), Kyla Dalton, Theodore Massillon and Blake Stefanelli, competed in the state championships held at Gulf coast State College in Panama City Beach against the other top 10 teams in the state. The team placed sixth in the state with a record of 4 wins and 5 losses. Team captain Noah Bush ranked No. 19 in the individual standings, while Blake Stefanelli, Kyla Dalton and Theodore Massillon ranked 22, 23 and 26 respectively. This year is the second consecutive year that the Brain Bowl team qualified for the state championships.

Valencia College beat the Chipola Blue team to become the state champion. For more information about the Brain Bowl or to join the team, contact coach Asha Brunings at brain.bowl@sfcollege.edu or at 352-381-7144.
