October 5, 2017 –The Santa Fe College Emergency Management Team is monitoring the progress of Tropical Storm Nate. Nate developed into a tropical storm as of the 8 a.m. report Thursday, Oct. 5.
Nate is currently off the coast of Nicaragua and is expected to impact the Gulf Coast Sunday morning, possibly as a Category 1 hurricane.
According to the latest projections, landfall seems likely somewhere between Louisiana and the western portions of the Florida panhandle. The National Hurricane Center says that even areas outside the projected path need to be aware of the progress of the storm.
Should Tropical Storm Nate track closer to the area, updates on how the storm will impact the SF community will be posted at sfcollege.edu/alerts.
