February 20, 2018 – SF sophomore pitcher Mitch Campion (3-0) was stellar on the mound for the FCSAA No. 2/Baseball America No. 14 Santa Fe Saints (14-2) Monday evening in Winter Haven, tossing seven shutout innings to earn the win over Polk State College. Campion scattered four hits and struck out six. He now has a 0.82 ERA in four starts and has allowed 0 runs in three of four starts. His scoreless innings streak sits at 18.
Haydn Cano got SF on the board in the third, knocking home Austin Bodrato for a 1-0 Santa Fe lead.
Cade Westbrook gave the Saints some insurance in the eighth, scoring on an Eagles error after reaching with a pinch hit single to start the inning.
The Saints will face a stiff test Wednesday, Feb. 21 when FCSAA No. 6 State College of Florida (10-5-1) comes to town for a 3 p.m. game at SF Field.
