March 12, 2018 – The Santa Fe Saints Athletics teams were busy during the spring break, with both the baseball and softball teams going undefeated.
The Saints baseball team swept Florida State College – Jacksonville 2-0, 8-7 and 13-7. The NJCAA No. 5 and FCSAA No. 2 Saints finished the break by trouncing Kalamazoo Valley Community College 13-5. The Saints are now 22-4 on the season and 3-0 in the Mid-Florida Conference.
SF’s next game will be Wednesday, March 14, when they host St. Johns River State College at 3 p.m.
The SF Softball team were a perfect 6-0 during the academic break. The Saints defeated Palm Beach State College 8-5 and 8-0 Friday, March 2; 3-2 and 10-9 wins over Lincoln Land State College Friday, March 9; and 13-1 and 6-5 over Daytona State College March 10. The FCSAA No. 10 Saints improve to 22-9-2 on the season. SF begins Mid-Florida Conference play Tuesday, March 13, when they travel to Sanford to play Seminole State College.
The Saints women’s basketball season came to an end Thursday when they lost a close one against Florida Southwestern 79-75. The game eliminated SF in the quarterfinals of the FCSAA/NJCAA Tournament.
