Santa Fe Saints batter Andrew Eyster
SF’s Andrew Eyster went 2-for-4 with a home run, three runs scored, and 4 RBI in the Saints 14-4 victory over Lake Sumter.

April 3, 2018 – For the second straight game, the NJCAA No. 7 Santa Fe Saints (30-6, 11-2 MFC) forced the mercy rule against Lake Sumter State College, defeating the Lakehawks 14-4 in five innings, two days after a 10-2 win in seven innings on Saturday.

Max McKinley was on the hill for the Saints and pitched all five innings, allowing four earned runs.

SF staked McKinley to a 5-0 lead after the first innings, thanks in part to a three run home run from Andrew Eyster, his 11th of the season.

The Saints added a pair in the second and put the game away in the fifth, scoring seven runs to end the game via run rule.

Garrett Mathes homered in the fifth, part of a five hit, four walk inning for the Saints.  The final two runs of the bottom of the fifth came on bases loaded walks.

SF had 12 hits as a team and drew eight walks.  Mathes finished 3-for-4 with a home run and three RBI.  Andrew Eyster was 2-for-4 with a home run, three runs scored and four RBI.  Jarrett Pico had two hits and Haydn Cano knocked in two runs.

The Saints will finish their three-game series with Lake Sumter Wednesday in Leesburg at 3 p.m.
