Mother and Son Will Graduate Together This Spring

April 19, 2018 – Next month, Santa Fe College holds it’s Spring 2018 graduation ceremonies, celebrating the accomplishments of the students, as well as the families and friends who support them. Among the graduates this spring will be Karessa Widner and her son, Ryan, each earning an associate degree from SF.

Karessa, a quality assurance coordinator with Life South Community Blood Center will be earning her A.A. in nursing, while Ryan, who already earned his A.A. at SF, will complete his A.S. in computer programming.

Although the two ceremonies are traditionally held at different times, the family has received permission from the college to walk together to accept their degrees during the ceremony Friday, May 4, at 3 p.m.

Ms. Widner has been working toward a degree, but briefly left college to accommodate her busy working schedule and raising her son. SF offered her a flexible class schedule that allowed her to pursue her degree.

Karessa said her son is planning on entering the working world, where he hopes to eventually work designing video games. Karessa hopes to stay at SF working toward her bachelor’s in nursing.

Congratulations to you and all of our SF graduates of the class on 2018!
