May 30, 2018 – Santa Fe College President Jackson N. Sasser, Vice President for Advancement Chuck Clemons, and members of the District Board of Trustees will be on hand for the dedication ceremony of the new SF Police Department building Thursday, May 31, at 9 a.m.

The SFPD headquarters will provide the police department with separate, dedicated rooms for interviewing victims and suspects. It will also allow SF’s emergency management officials meeting space needed, and enable a more efficient process of distributing services to the college community.

SFPD Chief Ed Book says the expansion now “enables us to provide better service and increased safety for the whole college community.” Book added that the million dollar expansion “demonstrates the enormous value that President Sasser, our Board of Trustees, and top college officials place on safety and security for our college,”

The old SFPD (Building T) will still be utilized as offices, archived files and other needed office space. The new facility, located just south of the old building and north of the Natural Sciences building (Building X) essentially doubles the size of the space SF’s law enforcement can use.
