SAINTS OPEN CONFERENCE PLAY WITH 3-1 WIN OVER FSC-J
September 28, 2018 – Jacksonville, FL – The Saints Fe Saints improved to 14-1 overall and 1-0 in Panhandle Conference play with a 3-1 win over host Florida State College @ Jacksonville Thursday night.
The Saints, ranked #3 in the region and # 9 in the nation, won the first two sets, 25-22 and 25-18 before dropping set three 25-20. SF closed out the match with a solid 25-13 win in set four.
Our middles carried us all night,” said Head Coach Nick Cheronis. “It wasn’t a particularly well played match by either team, but that’s how you have to win sometimes on the road.”
Brooke Ruud led the Saints with 12 kills and a .579m hitting percentage for the night while Jocelyn Garcia registered 10 kills and hit .500.
Ruud and Garcia also each had four aces on the night while Jenna Wiggs had three aces, all in the fourth set.
The Saints will travel to Jacksonville again tonight to face Pensacola State College in another PC matchup held at FSC-J beginning at 7:00 pm.
