October 3, 2018 – A national alert test is scheduled for Wednesday, Oct. 3, 2018. The test is part of the Emergency Alert System and Wireless Emergency Alerts. In coordination with the Federal Communications Commission (FCC) and the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA), mobile phone users should get an alert on their phones at 2:18 p.m. EDT.
The alert message will read: “Presidential Alert: THIS IS A TEST of the National Wireless Emergency Alert System. No action is needed.” The national test will also use the same special tone and vibration you would receive with other alerts (tornado warnings, AMBER alerts, etc.)
In addition to the mobile phone alerts, similar messages will be broadcast via radio and television broadcasters, cable systems and satellite radio and television providers.
This is a national alert and in no way affiliated or controlled by Santa Fe College.
