February 21, 2019 – Brooks Walton threw a no-hitter and the Santa Fe Saints baseball team improved to 16-3 on the season with a 7-0 win over Abraham Baldwin Agricultural College Wednesday afternoon in Tifton, Georgia.

Walton (3-1) walked two and struck out nine posting the Saints second no-hitter of the year. Anthony Arguelles threw a no-hitter against South Florida State College Feb. 2.

“Brooks threw everything for strikes and got better as the game went on,” said SF head coach Johnny Wiggs. “He used all four of his pitches to get the job done.”

The Saints scored all the runs they would need in the top of the second inning with Tyler Zayas, Cale Jones and Parker Biederer driving in runs as SF took a 4-0 lead.

“We got a good lead early and Brooks settled in nicely,” said Wiggs. “Our pitchers continue to gain more and more confidence and feed off each other’s success.”

As a team, the Saints pitching staff has a 1.76 earned run average and have nine shutouts on the season.

Biederer and Cade Westbrook had two hits apiece for the Saints and Cale Jones drove in two runs.

The Saints, ranked No.1 in the Florida College System Activities Association coaches’ poll and No. 12 in the National Junior College Athletic Association poll, will travel to Niceville to take on Northwest Florida State College Friday at 5 p.m.
