November 24, 2020 – Last month, in light of the many events being canceled across Santa Fe College because of the COVID-19 pandemic, the SF Teaching Zoo and SFPD teamed up with partners across the college and around the community to hold a month-long food drive. The #WhoCanYouCan canned food drive wrapped up with a total of 5,337 canned foods and other nonperishable food items for the Gainesville Harvest Food Bank and Catholic Charities.

Donation boxes were set up across the Northwest Campus, many of the SF centers and at various businesses across the area (see a complete list here). The items collected will go to help food-insecure people in our community. Catholic Charities said that even before the pandemic, as many as one out of every five people, and one of every four children in the community did not have reliable access to food. Those numbers increased as people lost jobs or had hours cut back as a result of shutdowns that marked much of 2020.

The entire Santa Fe College family thanks everyone who worked to make #WhoCanYouCan such a success.
