December 2, 2020 – Many families in Alachua County rely on school meals for their daily breakfast and lunch needs. Each year the ACPS Winter Food Drive provides boxes of staple food items to help these families get through the two-week winter break. This year the need for assistance is especially high as more families in our area struggle with food insecurity.
To reduce physical handling, monetary donations are encouraged online, although checks are also accepted. Checks should be made out to the Education Foundation of Alachua County. If you prefer to donate food, drop-off points are located at any Florida Credit Union and at Terwilliger Elementary.
A full box of items costs about $50. Items needed include canned fruits and vegetables, bags of rice, boxes of mac and cheese, peanut butter and jelly, breakfast cereals, instant potatoes and more.
