January 19, 2021 – The Santa Fe College District Board of Trustees honored outgoing Trustee G. Thomas Mallini with the status of Trustee Emeritus at their meeting Tuesday afternoon. Mallini was first appointed to the Board in 2003 and has served for 17 years. He becomes the college’s third Trustee Emeritus, joining Col. Arley McRae and Robert Hudson.
During his tenure, Mallini was involved in the creation and opening of the Davis Center in Archer, the Watson Center in Keystone Heights and the Perry Center for Emerging Technologies in Alachua. He has also served as a Santa Fe College Foundation Board Member, helping to steward funds used to create scholarships for students within the service district of Alachua and Bradford counties.
President Paul Broadie II, Ph.D. praised Mallini, saying “Trustee Mallini has been more than just an invaluable resource to me, he has been a friend and he has been essential to the growth and success of Santa Fe. I thank him for his service to the college and wish nothing but the best for Tom and his wife Dianne. He will always be a part of the Santa Fe College family.”
The Trustee Emeritus is designed to recognize distinguished service to the college and allows Mallini to be included as a guest of honor at special events hosted by the college.
