SFPD Participating in Special Olympics Torch Run

SFPD Participating in Special Olympics Torch Run

May 5, 2022 – The law enforcement community of Florida is a relentless supporter of the Special Olympics mission. Lace up your sneakers and join them in traversing the streets as a champion of acceptance and inclusion. This year, the Special Olympics Torch Run will be held Friday, May 6, beginning at 10 a.m. at the Jonesville Publix. In addition to the Santa Fe College Police Department, there will be members of the Alachua County Sheriff’s Office, Gainesville Police Department, Alachua Police Department, High Springs Police Department, UF Police Department and of course, Special Olympians.

To run, you must purchase a shirt first. Anyone who does not have a shirt will be able to purchase one while completing registration the day of the torch run beginning at 9 a.m. This is one of the main ways the Special Olympics receive their donations. To view the shirt, visit http://www.letrfl.org.

The race route will start at Jonesville Publix and will go for about one mile. The Alachua County Sheriff’s Office will be escorting this event and the run will be at a jogging pace so we can all stay together.

See you Friday, May 6!
