April 5, 2023 – Santa Fe College’s Model United Nations Team participated in the annual Southern Regional Model UN conference in Charlotte NC. Over the course of three days (March 23-25, 2023), students represented the interests of the Hashemite Kingdom of Jordan and the Russian Federation. Both delegations brought home Outstanding Position Paper Awards, Russia won a Distinguished Delegation Award and Jordan won Overall Outstanding Delegation. Additionally, Megan Sorensen and Kyle Coleman won Outstanding Delegate as Russia in the General Assembly, Eli Miller and Maria Sanchez won Outstanding Delegate as Russia in the United Nations Economic and Social Council (ECOSOC), and Grant Gibson won Outstanding Delegate as Jordan in the United Nations Relief and Works Agency for Palestine Refugees in the Near East.
Congratulations are in order to advisor Jennifer Forshee, and her twelve students who have spent the last three months preparing for this conference: Eden Chaffee, Kyle Coleman, Grant Gibson, Dani Gutierrez, Hannah Kearns, Eli Miller, Kalik Pavliga, Emiliana Pulido, Maria Sanchez, James Soler, Megan Sorensen, and Josh Spence-Lehmann.
