Santa Fe College Closed Nov. 23-25 for Thanksgiving

November 13, 2023 – Here’s what you should know about Santa Fe College’s operating hours this Thanksgiving:

  • Santa Fe College will be closed for Thanksgiving from Thursday, Nov. 23 through Saturday, Nov. 25.
  • There are no night classes after 5 p.m. Wednesday, Nov. 22.
  • Normal operating hours will resume Monday, Nov. 27.
  • The Kika Silva Pla Planetarium will be closed from Monday, Nov. 20 to Sunday, Nov. 26.
  • The Santa Fe College Teaching Zoo will be closed Thursday, Nov. 23, but will be open the rest of the weekend.
  • The Santa Fe College Official Bookstore will be closed Wednesday, Nov. 22 at 1 p.m. until Monday, Nov. 27.
  • The Tyree Library will close at 5 p.m. on Wednesday, Nov. 22 and remain closed through Saturday, Nov. 25. Normal hours resume Sunday, Nov. 26.

Thanksgiving in the United States began in 1789 when President George Washington issued a proclamation for “a day of public thanksgiving and prayer.” In 1941, Congress passed and President Roosevelt signed into law H.J. Res. 41 to establish Thanksgiving Day as a legal holiday on the fourth Thursday of November.
