November 20, 2023 – The Santa Fe Saints entered last weekend’s Best Western Gateway Grand Classic undefeated. DME Academy and the Gulf Coast State College Commodores stood in the way of a perfect season.
Friday’s game against DME Academy gave the team and its supporters hope. The back-and-forth battle ended with the Saints dominating the fourth quarter to end with a 72-62 victory.
Saturday’s match against the Commodores brought the Saints’ undefeated season to a halt. Ranked #2 nationally in the NJCAA, the Commodores grabbed an early lead and did not let go. They overwhelmed the Saints’ best efforts, inflicting a 97-72 loss.
The Saints have time to recuperate and grow. They return to host DME Academy on Wednesday, Nov. 29 at 5:30 p.m.
