January 22, 2024 – Students come first at Santa Fe College (SF). From academic support to financial assistance, SF strives to add value to the lives of our students, which in turn, enriches our community.
Student Life is more than a collection of resources to help students succeed. According to Sarah Blanc, SF’s Office of Civic Engagement and Service Specialist, “Student Life helps students find their community during their time at SF. We provide meaningful experiences that will help prepare our students for life after college, and they make lifelong friends by getting involved.”
More Than Education
Although education remains at the core of Santa Fe College, our students can rest assured their well-being is first and foremost. Wellness resources like TimelyCare and the Fitness Center aim to nurture the body and mind. Services like Saints Food Share assist students in finding valuable support that can make a big difference in their lives.
More Than Numbers
SF students are more than faceless numbers who sit in a classroom. Blanc wants students to know that they are seen, heard and, perhaps most importantly, remembered.
“I can’t tell you,” Blanc said, “how many times I get an email from a former student that starts with, ‘I don’t know if you’ll remember me’ and I always respond, ‘Of course I remember you!’ If you took the time to meet with me or spend an afternoon volunteering, I’ll definitely remember you!”
Blanc also expressed joy in witnessing graduation and engaging students in off-campus volunteering experiences, saying, “Every time we visit the springs or the animal shelter or any of the amazing non-profits in our area, it feels like the first time experiencing these places through the students’ eyes.”
