SF Softball: Saints Win Marathon Doubleheader

March 15, 2024 – The SF Saints Women’s Softball team improved their record yesterday to 19-8 when they defeated the Manatees of State College of Florida, Manatee-Sarasota.

The doubleheader began with neither team scoring a run in the first eight innings. The Saints were the first to score in the ninth, but the Manatees matched the effort, forcing the game into extra innings. Finally, the Saints scored the winning run in the eleventh inning, taking game one 2-1.

The Saints won the second game a little easier, scoring their winning runs in the sixth. Santa Fe College sweeps the doubleheader with a 4-1 victory.

“Our pitching held us in the game until we were able to capitalize and get on top,” Saints Head Coach Savanah Webster said. “We had a great performance on defense in the circle and timely hitting from our middle to bottom of the line-up. Two big wins on the road.”

The victorious Saints return home this Saturday, March 16 to face NJCAA #3 Florida Southwestern State College. The doubleheader starts at 1 p.m.
