April 8, 2024 – On Saturday, the Santa Fe Saints hit the road to take on the Florida Southwestern State College Buccaneers in a doubleheader. Earlier in the week, the Saints lost the first game of the series 16-10.

The Saints began the doubleheader strong, taking the lead in the first two innings. The Buccaneers fought back in the third and fourth innings, but the Saints held on for the 5-4 victory.

The Buccaneers got their revenge in the second game. They had eleven hits in the game and went on to score ten runs, achieving the shutout win.

“We got off to a great start in game one scoring five runs in the first two innings,” Saints Head Coach Johnny Wiggs said. “In game two, we never could get things going and it turned ugly quickly. We will get back to work as we get ready for our Tuesday matchup against FSCJ.”

The Saints are set to play against Florida State College at Jacksonville at home on Tuesday, March 9 at 2 p.m.
