Congratulations to the Winners of the 2024 RUE Festival

People attending the Santa Fe College Research in Undergraduate Education (RUE) Festival.

April 24, 2024 – On Monday, April 22, the SF’s Research in Undergraduate Education held its annual Research Festival. Students presented 24 different posters highlighting research done as a student at Santa Fe College. The posters were judged by SF faculty on areas such as content mastery, critical thinking or scientific reasoning, written and visual communications, information literacy and oral communications. Winners were chosen in the Empirical Research and Analytical Research categories:

Empirical Research

  • 1st Place: James Zuniga, Sunny Zaffuto and Megan Gram – Student Belongingness at Santa Fe College
  • 2nd Place: Lelia El khargui – An Examination of the Peninsula Effect: Florida’s Freshwater Turtle Species
  • 3rd Place: Abbie VonBargen – The Appropriate Age for Technology in a Digital Age

Analytical Research

  • 1st Place: Alexandra Wooten, Ericka Javillonar, Kaylin Madonia, Sherrie Blackwelder and Daniela Androuin – Preventing and Treating Alzheimer’s Disease with Food
  • 2nd Place: Elizabeth Wutzke and Stella Budkoski – Role of Blood Levels for Vitamin D3 and Viral Infections: COVID-19 and Influenza
  • 3rd Place: Olivia LaPlante – BRCA for Beginners/Nature of Investigation: genetic interest in the mutations that go along with the BRCA gene
