April 25, 2024 – This Spring, the Dance Theatre of Santa Fe was selected for the Gala concert at the American College Dance Association’s annual conference. Although they didn’t get to perform a second time due to a technicality, they competed against four-year university undergraduate and graduate dance programs. Santa Fe College was one of only three state colleges to attend the conference and the only of those three selected for this highest honor.

Soon after the conference, the dancers took the Fine Arts Hall stage alongside 30 other students to perform Elements of Style. They wowed audiences with their incredible performances and received a standing ovation. SF President Dr. Broadie attended the performance with his father in support and greeted the students afterwards, expressing his admiration and pride.

“Witnessing the growth of these students both as people and as artists is thrilling,” Melissa Brenner, the Dance Theatre of Santa Fe’s Director said. “They push themselves to their fullest potential and it’s incredibly inspiring. The dance faculty couldn’t be prouder of their achievements.”

The Santa Fe College Dance program offers an A.A. dance track degree designed for a smooth transfer to four-year institutions. Many graduates transfer to the University of Florida’s B.A. or BFA dance program, while others pursue an immediate career in the performing arts.
