Whether you’re looking for a quiet place to study or seeking tutoring, the Lawrence W. Tyree Library and Learning Commons are here to help you make the most of your summer term.
Look Up Student Success at the Library
The Lawrence W. Tyree Library is more than a place students go to study or perform research. From learning assistance to entertaining diversions, the Tyree Library is a source of enrichment.
“At the Tyree Library,” Nance Lempinen-Leedy, Library Director said, “everyone is welcome, and all library staff love to answer questions and connect people with the resources they need to succeed. Library staff are helpful, resourceful and dedicated to student success. Ask us, we will help!”
The Lawrence W. Tyree Library (Building Y) is located on SF’s Northwest Campus. Summer 2024 hours are:
- Monday to Thursday: 8 a.m. to 8 p.m.
- Friday: 8 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.
- Saturday: Closed
- Sunday: noon to 6 p.m.

Learn Better at the Learning Commons
Tutoring is like having a personal coach for your academics. It’s all about helping you figure out how to learn better. When you go for tutoring, you’re more likely to do well in your classes. And if you have a good experience with tutoring, it might start a lifelong journey of discovering new things and really understanding them.
The Learning Commons provides multiple services aimed to enhance the quality of student learning experiences.
“Students who come to the Learning Commons,” Lee Delaino, Learning Commons Director said, “are encouraged to learn strategies for studying that they may not have been taught before. We expect that everyone can add new study skills to their toolbox for academic success.”
The Northwest Campus, the Blount Center and all center locations offer tutoring. Students can also meet with SF tutors online if coming in person isn’t possible. Online tutoring assistance is available via the Learning Commons Canvas page.
