Gainesville, FL – The Santa Fe Saints (20-6, 2-0 MFC) took care of business on Monday, dispatching of St. Petersburg College twice in dominating fashion, 9-6 and 13-3.  SF used a seven run second inning in game one to grab the lead after falling behind 5-1 and controlled game two from the outset.

“Our hitters had a great day swinging the bat,” said Wiggs.  “It was nice to see us put together some big innings, which we are very capable of doing.  I was happy to see us keep the momentum going after two conference wins.”

The Titans jumped ahead 5-1 early in game one but the FCSAA #1/NJCAA #7 Saints batted around to regain the lead in the second inning.  Kyle Buchanan doubled home the first run, Mallex Smith knocked in the second with a fielder’s choice, Drew Doty plated two with a bases loaded single, AJ Mazzurco collected an RBI via a walk, Garrett Greenwell hit a sacrifice fly and Caleb Denmark scored on a wild throw to cap the seven run inning.

Mallex Smith added an insurance run in the third to seal up the win.  Dylan Barrow (1-0, 2.08 ERA) pitched three innings in relief to earn his first win of the season.

Doty finished 2-for-4 with two RBI, AJ Mazzurco was 2-for-3 and Kyle Buchanan was 1-for-3 with a double and an RBI.

Game two was all Santa Fe as the Saints scored two in the first on a Shane Kennedy two run homer for a 2-1 lead.  In the fourth, SF did all their damage with two outs.  Mallex Smith singled and Kennedy followed with a triple.  Doty then singled, Denmark doubled and Tim Remes finished the inning with a sngle to plate the fourth run of the frame.

The Saints blew the game open in the fourth with five runs on three hits and four walks.  Kennedy and Doty each walked to start the inning and Denmark, Remes and Graham Ramos followed with singles to score three runs.  Ryan Rodriguez manufactured a run with a sacrifice fly later in the inning and Mallex Smith knocked in the fifth run with a fielder’s choice ground out to make the score 11-2.

Santa Fe tacked on two more in the fifth on a fielder’s choice ground out by Ramos and a RBI single by Jacob Tillotson.

JT Simpson (3-1, 2.35 ERA) started on the hill and picked up the win.

Kennedy finished 2-for-4 with a homerun, three runs and three RBI, Doty was 2-for-2 with two runs scored and a RBI, Remes was 3-for-4 with three RBI, Denmark finished 3-for-4 with two runs and two RBI and Tillotson was 2-for-3.
