Canvas Workshops Information and Registration

The Center for Academic Technologies has been working diligently this week to put together a complete and comprehensive professional development calendar for Canvas for the remainder of the summer. This way you can schedule all your workshops at the same time. There are six workshop titles (Simplifying Canvas with Modules, Canvas Quizzes, Canvas Grades and Assignments, Canvas Communication Tools, Collaborating with Canvas and Designing and Using Rubrics). Each topic lasts for about an hour but all sessions include enough time for Q&A and practice. There are several options, including live webinars for those of you who cannot come to campus. (Note: online attendees will receive more information about how to participate by email.)

For example, if you are teaching this summer, you may wish to take one title at a time on Tuesday mornings, Wednesday afternoons or Wednesday evenings. If you are available Friday mornings, you can take two workshops back-to-back and complete all six workshops in just three mornings. As we approach the fall term, we are offering two all-day options for faculty who may not be available for most of the summer. You can also participate in the entire series online from the comfort of your home on Wednesday mornings or Thursday evenings. However and whenever you wish to participate, we have an option to meet your needs!

A description of all the workshops and the schedule for the next eight weeks is posted on the CAT website. Look over the whole schedule carefully, then use this convenient web form to register: http://tinyurl.com/canvasworkshops. Class size is limited. If you need to cancel a class, please contact Academic Technologies at 352-395-7375 or academic.technologies@sfcollege.edu so others may take your place.

We would like to acknowledge the staff – Steve, Gloria, Debbie, Zona, Nina and Olysha – for all their hard work in getting this together quickly so that you all may better plan your summer and feel confident that you will know everything you need to know about Canvas by the start of the fall semester.

We hope you will take advantage of these workshops and find them extremely valuable. We look forward to the results of the evaluation forms so that we may continue to improve our services.
