SF WOMEN’S BASKETBALL
The Santa Fe Saints evened their Mid-Florida Conference record at 1-1 on Wednesday evening with a victory over rivals College of Central Florida 66-63 in Ocala. The win moves SF to 6-11 overall.
Central Florida led late in the second half but back to back baskets by the Saints, including a three pointer from Tori Baggett gave SF the lead. From there the defense took over and stopped the Patriots on five straight possessions to secure the important conference victory.
Tori Baggett led all scorers with 23 points, Stephanie Ball scored 11, and Jaquasha Sesler had 10. Tatiana Manuel came up big on the defensive end, blocking four shots to go with nine rebounds.
Santa Fe will return home on Saturday, Jan. 11 for a MFC matchup against Daytona State at 2 p.m.
