November 22, 2023 – Congratulations to Linda Mussillo and Shellie Banfield for recently being honored by the AFC (Association of Florida Colleges) Equity Commission.

Linda was named the 2023 AFC Equity Commission’s Exemplary Practice Winner for their Project SAINT (Student Access and Inclusion Together) work. Project SAINT offers a non-credit college experience for young adults under age 25 who have intellectual disabilities.

Shellie’s dedication to GRRATE (Guitars, Robotics, Rocketry Advanced Technical Education) earned them the AFC Equity Commission’s Award of Merit for 2023. Through project-based learning, GRRATE helped students gain the competencies and self-efficacy needed to succeed in STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics) fields.

Linda and Shellie’s enthusiasm for promoting education and community enrichment earned them each a distinction, certificate and monetary award. They will share their presentations in 2024.

Their accomplishments continue to exemplify the AFC’s high standards. Earlier this year, Santa Fe College’s (SF) AFC Chapter was given the title of “2023 Gold Chapter” and the first-place award in the AFC Membership Challenge. Additionally, two SF professors were each presented with the 2023 Distinguished Professor Award, and an SF graduate obtained the 2023 Lifetime Achievement Award.
